From the Shadows is Ashley Rader's continuing series of black-and-white, hyper-realistic wildlife artworks. Working in monochrome, she invites the viewer to slow down—allowing each subject to emerge from darkness with intention and restraint.
These are not illustrations of wildlife, but portraits of character, strength, and quiet authority. Together, they form the visual foundation from which Ashley's wider artistic practice has grown.

The beginning
of a language.
Emergence marked the beginning of Ashley's distinct wildlife practice and the career path that followed. Its high-contrast compositions, detailed surfaces, and restrained palette established a visual language rooted in realism, atmosphere, and presence.
From that foundation, Ashley began branching into abstract and contemporary wildlife art—introducing more painterly movement, dimensional treatments, color, and experimentation. Even as the work expands, a unified sense of contrast, character, and intentional detail keeps it recognizably hers.

Emergence was exhibited at the Booth Museum of Western Art in the Prescott Gallery from January 4–March 6, 2022. The majority of its works entered institutional or private collections, including Magisterial, which was acquired for the museum's permanent collection.
